SNOWMAN Amigurumi no sewing
November 21, 2022
I recently started to create a new collection of no-sewing amigurumi -free patterns (that you can find here) and I thought that it was time to add something Christmas-y to the collection.
The pattern in this page is totally free, but it’s intellectual property of Elendipity.
You can use it and, of course, you can sell the final products you create, but you cannot sell the pattern or any alteration of the pattern.
You should also credit Elendipity (as pattern creator) whenever you create it, share it and/or sell it.
Feel free to tag me on my Instagram if you create it, I would love to see your works!!
There is also an inexpensive ad-free pdf version of the pattern with more than 60 photos to explain you the process step by step, you can buy it here:
The PDF includes the following patterns:
This amigurumi is worked from the top to the bottom, so you will begin from the head and you will continue working in round creating the nose, the neck, the arms and the rest of the body.
After this you can crochet hat and scarf (which are absolutely optional).
The Snowman and the Top Hat are worked in continuous rounds with the spiral method, not slip stitches to join. (The beanie hat and the scarf, instead, are worked in rows.)
There will be some colour change and I recorded a video to show you how to change colour in amigurumi, you will find the video at this link.
I used:
I bought the yarn at Hobbii.
Here below the list of the stitches (US terms) that we are going to use for this project.
Shall we start?
Let’s go!!
START
With 3mm crochet hook and the colour W6, create a MC and work R1 in the MC.
SC 6 (6)
* INC * x 6 (12)
* SC 1, INC * x 6 (18)
* INC, SC 2 * x 6 (24)
* SC 3, INC * x 6 (30)
SC 30 (30)
SC 14, change colour to DO6, Nose (FLO: SS 1, CH 4, SS 1, SC 2), FLO SS 1, change colour to W6, SC 14 (30 + nose)
SC 14, BLO SC 2, SC 14 (30)
SC 30 (30)
* SC 3, DEC * x 6 (24)
* DEC, SC 2 * x 6 (18)
* SC 1, DEC * x 6 (12) and proceed with stuffing the head.
SC 12 (12)
FLO: * SC 1, INC * x 6 (18)
INC, SC 2, INC, change colour to B6, First Arm (FLO: SS 1, CH 7, starting from the second CH from your hook SS 2, CH 4, starting from the second CH from your hook SS 3 in the chains you just made, SS 4 and SS 1 in the same st where you did the first SS 1), change colour to W6, SC 1, * INC, SC 2 * x 2, INC, SC 1, change colour to B6, Second Arm (FLO: SS 1, CH 7, starting from the second CH from your hook SS 2, CH 4, starting from the second CH from your hook SS 3 in the chains you just made, SS 4 and SS 1 in the same st where you did the first SS 1), change colour to W6, INC, SC 2 (24 + 2 arms)
It looks more complicated that what it actually is: you are basically creating two arms and, on the top of the arms, you create sort of hands/fingers.
SC 3, INC, SC 2, BLO SC 1, INC, * SC 3, INC * x 2, SC 3, BLO INC, SC 3, INC (30)
* INC, SC 4 * x 6 (36)
SC 36 (36)
* SC 4, DEC * x 6 (30)
* DEC, SC 3 * x 6 (24)
*SC 2, DEC * x 6 (18)
BLO : * DEC, SC 1 * x 6 (12)
Here you will do NORMAL DECREASE, don’t do invisible decrease because it won’t be ideal when working in BLO.
Working in BLO at this step will help the Snowman to seat better.
Now you will fill the Snowman with the stuffing.
* DEC * x 6 (6)
EMBROIDERY (optional)
Now you can embroider the mouth and some buttons on the belly.
START
With 3mm crochet hook and the colour BL6, create a MC and work R1 in the MC.
SC 6 (6)
* INC * x 6 (12)
* SC 1, INC * x 6 (18)
BLO: * INC, SC 2 * x 6 (24)
* DEC, SC 2 * x 6 (18)
SC 18 (18)
FLO: * SC 2, INC * x 6 (24)
SC 3, INC, FLO SC 3, FLO INC, * SC 3, INC * x 2, BLO SC 3, BLO INC, SC 3, INC
SS in the first stitch of previous round (30)
Fasten off and weave ends.
