The data we collect and why we collect it
Orders and purchases
When you buy a digital pattern, physical kit, or accessory through elendipity.com, we collect the information needed to process and fulfil your order: your name, email address, billing address, and (for physical items) shipping address. We also keep a record of your order history so we can help with any follow-up questions, returns, or support requests.
Payment is processed securely by Stripe. We do not see or store your full card details – Stripe handles this directly. You can read Stripe’s privacy policy at https://stripe.com/gb/privacy.
Newsletter and email marketing
If you sign up to our newsletter, we collect your email address (and name, if you provide it) to send you updates, new pattern releases, and occasional offers. We use an internal CRM to manage our email list and send these communications. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email we send.
Subscription and courses
If you join our crochet subscription or an online course, we collect the account and contact details needed to give you access, track your progress, and provide feedback as part of the subscription.
Workshops, one-to-one classes, school clubs, and DofE courses
For in-person workshops, one-to-one sewing or crochet classes, after-school craft clubs, and Duke of Edinburgh Award courses, we collect the contact details needed to book and run the session (such as name, email, and phone number).
Where a participant is under 18, this information is typically provided by a parent or guardian, and may include emergency contact details required for the safe running of the session. We only use this information for the purposes of running the course or club, and for any safeguarding or administrative requirements associated with it.

Cookies
If you leave a comment, you may opt in to having your name, email address, and website saved in a cookie for your convenience next time you comment. These cookies last for one year.
We also use cookies to keep your shopping basket working, remember your login if you have an account, and (where applicable) for analytics.
Embedded content

We don’t share data with the third parties but we share data with Stripe simply to deliver your order or booking.
We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
How long we retain your data

- Newsletter data is kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove it.
- Comments, if enabled, are retained indefinitely so we can recognise returning commenters.
- Course and club participant details are kept for the duration of the course/club plus a short administrative period afterwards, unless a longer period is required for safeguarding records.

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:
- ask what personal data we hold about you and request a copy
- ask us to correct inaccurate data
- ask us to delete your data (subject to any legal or administrative reasons we may need to keep it)
