Christmas Tree Amigurumi

Christmas Tree Amigurumi

PREMISE

I was doing the Christmas Tree and decorating the house with all the different crafts I made in the previous Christmases and I realized that, for this year, I still didn’t create something for the house!

Yes, I created a lot of craft for friends, family and clients, but nothing for myself.

I decided that I wanted to create a little Christmas Tree with crochet and specifically an amigurumi.

I found a lot of options online (free and paid patterns), but I wanted something mine and with a pot, that’s how my Christmas Tree Amigurumi was born!

(Ah yes, my Christmas tree has playing cards on it…my boyfriend is a magician, so we have playing cards for him and crochet snowflakes for me!)

Real Christmas Tree

Here below you will fing the free pattern for this Christmas Tree!

This pattern is totally free, but it’s intellectual property of Elendipity:
You can use it and, of course, you can sell the final products you create, but you cannot sell the pattern (which is also illegal by the way… just saying 🤷‍♀️😂).

You should also credit Elendipity (as pattern creator) whenever you sell the final product.

HOW TO

MATERIAL

The material you use really depends on you, both for the yarn and the decorations, here below will see what I used:

  • 2mm crochet hook for the cotton trees (the smallest ones) – 3mm crochet hook for the worsted weight yarn ones
  • Cotton 8/4 – from Hobbii for the cotton trees; acrylic worsted weight yarn for the others – In three colours Green for the tree, Brown for the trunk and Red/White for the pot
  • stitch markers
  • stuffing
TERMS

Here below the list of the stitches (US terms) we are going to use for this project.
Don’t worry, also a beginner can do it, it just asks a little bit of practice on these stitches.

  • CH = Chain
  • SC = Single Crochet
  • INC (Increase) = 2 stitches in the same stitch
  • DEC (Decrease) = 1 stitch worked over two stitches
  • SS = Slip Stitch
  • st = stitches
  • BLO = Back Loop Only
  • FLO = Front Loop Only

Shall we start?

Let’s go!!

TREE – TRUNK – POT

We will wwork in continuous rounds: we won’t join or turn.

I would recommend to use a stitch marker and place it in the first stitch of the round to mark the beginning of it.

At the end of each round you can find the stitch count in brackets.

We will work starting from the top of the tree, so it will be from the top of the tree to the pot, in one go, we will attach only the base of the pot.

  • START

Starting with Green, make a magic ring

  • ROUND 24

(SC 1, DEC) x 9 times – Change to BROWN in the last stitch. (18)

  • ROUND 25

SC 18. (18)

Now you should fold inside from round 21 and fill slightly the tree until the fold, look at the images to understand better.

After you filled it, just take out the rounds and continue working as normal – we will fold the tree back later.

Now you can fold the tree making the trunk go inside the bottom part of the tree.

  • ROUND 42-47 (7 rounds)

SC 36. (36)

At the end of the round 42, you should fill slightly the trunk.

You can make the pot taller simply adding rounds of SC 36.

At the end of round 47 (or the the round you decide to do), make a SS in the first stitch of thre previous round, fasten off and weave ends.

  • ROUND 6

Now we will join the bottom to the top of the pot.

We will join them with a round of SC.

We will stuff the pot while we are joining the two part: we will crochet about 18 SC and we start to fill and we fill as we go.

Make a SS in the first SC of the joint part.

Fasten off and weave ends.

Now model the pot following the rounds made in FLO and BLO to give the pot the right shape.

And HERE WE ARE: your Christmas Tree 🎄 is done!

Now you can use your imagination with decoration!

I decorated some of them with sequins, some with a simple crochet chain. I attached them with normal sewing thread and needle.

I also wanted a star on the top, this was the pattern I used:
